Mr. Darby was of the Assembly of God faith, a former forklift operator for Arvin Automotive, a former employee of Orscheln Brother's Truckline in St. Louis, a former sergeant in the Missouri National Guard, a member of the U.A.W. Local 1930 and a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Mitchell on June 17, 1990 at Severville, Tenn. Mrs. Darby survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Carl Edward "Eddie" Darby, Jr. of St. Louis; one daughter, Jessica Lee McCallister of Bourbon; two sisters, Mamie Perry of Bloomfield and Mildred McClellan of Fayetteville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ashley White, Amy Ferguson, Carl Darby, III, Aaron Michael Bryant, and Darby Van Zant McCallister; three great-grandchildren, Joscelyn White, Jack White, and Caiden Darby.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Lynn Bryant on Dec. 9, 1989; three sisters, Delma Moise, Quilla Force, and Mary Lou Kesterson.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gene Holland and Rev. Dean Williams officiating.
Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery.
