Eva "Vern" Barr

Vern Barr, daughter of the late Joe Swatzell and Ella White Swatzell, was born on June 26, 1932, in Bernie and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on March 16, 2009, at the age of 76.

Mrs. Barr was a housewife who was affiliated with the Light House Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On July 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert Barr in River Grove, Ill. Mr. Barr survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides her husband, survivors include one son, Robert H. Barr Jr. of Dexter; five daughters, of Deborah Hewitt, North Carolina, Sharon Nielsen of Elk Grove, Ill., Marilyn Lacy of Dexter, Carolyn Houseman of Benton, and Roberta Espey of Dexter; one sister, Barbara Jo Ann Roberts of Dexter; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Edward Swatzell; and two sisters, Maxine Taylor and Betty Parrish.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Thursday March 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
