Leamond Lloyd Fuwell, 73, son of Gilbert Roy Fuwell and Icy Marie (Jerls) Fuwell, was born in Risco on July 20, 1935. He died March 21, 2009, at St. John's Regional Hospital in Springfield.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Freeman (Bud) Fuwell, and an infant son, Michael Fuwell.
Leamond is survived by his children: Gary Fuwell and wife Melinda of Houston, Karen Evans of Dexter, Renee Powell of Licking, Tracey Weaver and husband Justin of Houston; ex-wife, Shirley Fuwell of Houston; ex-wife, Wyonia Mills of St. Louis; one brother, Bufford Fuwell of Bloomfield; and an aunt, Geneva Smith of Michigan; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other loved ones and friends.
He married Shirley Ann Fuwell on Aug. 25, 1956, and later married Wyonia Mills.
Lee was a member of Brown Hill Baptist Church of Houston. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, taking care of his cattle and various projects. Lee was very devoted to his family and loved to spoil his grandchildren.
He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed, but his loved ones will take comfort knowing that he will be in the presence of the Lord and with his loved ones who have preceded him.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery in Essex with Rev. Larie Burdine officiating.
