Jerry F. Davis, son of Malinda May Davis and the late Charles Arden Davis, was born in Essex on Jan. 14, 1942, and died at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on April 5, 2009, at the age of 67.

Mr. Davis had lived in Essex and Dexter all his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and had received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Rupublic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion.

In September 1978, he was married to Jennette "Jan" Jarrell in Essex.

Surviving are his wife, Jan Jarrell of Dexter; one son, Jeff Davis of Ellsinore; two daughters, Amy Brakhane of Palm Coast, Fla., and Sarah Hays of Risco; his mother, Malinda Davis of Essex; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Luella Smith of Wappapello. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Davis and Harold Davis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Chaplain Herb Zaricor of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
