Norman E. Winchester

Norman E. Winchester, son of the late Fred Winchester and Ethel Norman Winchester, was born March 4, 1925, at Bernie and died April 6, 2009 in the Sikeston Convalescent Center at the age of 84.

Mr. Winchester was of the Missionary Baptist faith, a retired data processor for the Missouri National Guard, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the Retired Officers Association, and a resident of Sikeston.

He was united in marriage to Vonice Slayton on Jan. 23, 1970, at Benton. Mrs. Winchester preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2000.

He is survived by one daughter, Debra Reece of Bernie; one step-daughter, Suzan Adams of Sikeston; one grandchild, Colin Reece; two nephews, J. Frank Moore of Cape Girardeau and Fred Moore of Decatur, Ill.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30 -10:45a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the Bernie Cemetery with Rev. Don Adams officiating.
