Mr. Walters had lived in Dexter all his life. He was a farmer and a member of the Vinson General Baptist Church near Dexter.
On April 27, 1940, he was married to Essie Lee Wicks in Dexter.
Surviving are his wife, Essie Lee Walters of Dexter; three daughters, Norma Jean Jackson of Dexter, Elnora Bernard of Reedsville, Ohio, Janice Sue Allen of Geneva, Ill.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Lee Walters and Ralph Walters, Jr.
Visitation will be held after 12 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Rick Roberts of Essex officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
