Services for Sherman Dale Van Bibber were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at St. James Episcopal Church in

Alexandria, La., with Reverends Fred Tinsley and Jim Theus officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, La.

Pallbearers were Elton Beebe, Robert Broadwell, Tommy Caldwell, Chris Coco, Sammy Dunbar and Bob Martin.

Mr. Van Bibber, 69, of Alexandria died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Van Bibber was born in Dexter March 5, 1940. He was a graduate of Centenary College in 1964, where he played basketball for the Gents, and coached at Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, La. Mr. Van Bibber moved to Alexandria, La., in 1974 and owned Louisiana Graduate Supply until he joined the Magnolia Management Corporation doing employee benefits for the last 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited; past member of Shreveport Elks Lodge #122. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oral and Norma Tacy Wright Van Bibber and in-laws, Charles Aulton and Alice Denise Freeman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Denise Freeman Van Bibber; son, Terry Dale Van Bibber of Alexandria, La.; daughter, Tacy Denise Overholser and husband, Andrew Scott Overholser of Yazoo City, Miss.; four granddaughters, Lauren Lee and Molly Dale Van Bibber, Alexis Denise and Anna Elizabeth Overholser.

Visitation was held Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church Parish Hall from 10 a.m. until service time.
