Mr. Watson was a veteran of the United States Regular Army serving in World War II. He was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church, a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 and a resident of Bernie.
On April 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Mary Wilkerson at Dexter. Mrs. Watson survives of their home in Bernie.
Besides his wife survivors include one son, Charles Watson of Florida; three daughters, Ramona Hall of Corpus Christi, Texas, Anita Poppelmeyer of Bloomfield, and Delores Hyde of Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Peggy Rogers of Fairfield, Iowa; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Watson.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.
Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery with Rev. Susan Hoyle officiating.
