Jessie Pullum, the daughter of the late Jessie Van and Clara Ellen Carniton White, was born in Malden on Nov. 18, 1924, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on April 25, 2009, at the age of 84.

Mrs. Pullum had lived in Essex most all her life. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was married to Willie Alvin Pullum on Feb. 8, 1947 in Bernie. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1995.

Surviving are two sons: Tommy Lee Pullum and Bobby Joe Pullum both of Essex; one daughter: Shelby Jean O'Brien of Essex; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two sisters: Bea Sipes of Kansas City, Kansas and Lurene Whitner of St. Louis. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Jean Pullum, five sisters and three brothers.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 27, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home In Dexter with the Rev. Gary Gilbert of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery in Essex with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
