Dexter hopes to turn home field advantage into district title

Saturday, May 16, 2009
Dexter will be looking to turn home field advantage into a Class 3, District 1 championship as tournament action gets underway Monday at the East Park ballfield in Dexter.

The Bearcats enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Doniphan Monday at 3 p. m. in a first-round game.

If the seedings hold true, Dexter will face Notre Dame Regional High School in the finals on Wednesday at 6 p. m., weather permitting.

The Bulldogs are the tournament's No. 1 seed and are currently ranked No. 1 in the state.

Notre Dame, which has beaten Dexter twice this season, will get an important first-round bye.

Kennett enters as the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 Caruthersville Monday at 5, while No. 4 Fredericktown and No. 5 New Madrid County Central will kick off Monday's play at 1 o'clock.

Semifinal action is scheduled for Tuesday, with the title game set for Wednesday.

Good luck Bearcats! Take it one game at a time.

Go CATS.....

Good pitching, solid defense, focus and some luck = a chance to advance.
