Holden was scheduled to tee off today at 10:27 a. m., while teammate Jon Bowman, the only other Bearcat at the state tournament, was scheduled to tee off at 9:33 a m. after carding a round of 84 that left the Dexter junior tied for 61st.
Kearney's Zech Ryan was leading the way after the first day with a professional-like round of 6-under-par 66 to take a 7-shot lead over the field into today's second round.
Holden will be grouped with Nathaniel Oliver (76) of Republic, Ethan Muffett (82) of Duchesne and John Schnurbusch (82) of Farmington.
Holden is tied with four other golfers in 6th place and has just five players ahead of him starting the second day.
While Bowman is back around the middle of the pack, a solid round in the 70's today could move him into medal contention.
