Mr. Young had lived in Bloomfield all his life. He was a retired truck driver and had worked for Monarch Feed Mill in Dexter. He was a member of the Link Church near Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On April 1, 1944, he was married to Mary Melba Payne.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Melba Young of Bloomfield; one son, Dennis Young of Dexter; one daughter, Janet Walker of Arnold; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. M.C. Moore of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
