3rd shake and bake meth lab found in county in as many weeks

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

BLOOMFIELD-A Monday report from the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department confirms the discovery of yet another shake and bake meth lab in the county.

According to Sheriff Carl Hefner, a search warrant was executed in rural Dudley as the result of an investigation into illegal drug activity.

As a result of the search warrant, Stoddard County deputies seized another shake and bake meth lab along with undisclosed quantities of marijuana and finished methamphetamine that was located in a nearby farm shed.

Arrested was Michelle Dawn Turner, 41 of Poplar Bluff. She is charged with the Class B felony of manufacture of methamphetamine, the Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance, the Class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia and the Class A misdemeanor of possession of marijuana.

Turner had reportedly been working for an elderly woman in the Dudley area, and it was in the elderly woman's farm shed where the lab was located. According to the complaint filed by Deputy Keith Haynes, Turner was found Sunday afternoon in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine at the time the search warrant was executed. Several items used in the process were also found in the shed.

Her bond is set at $125,000 cash only, and she remains in the Stoddard County Jail awaiting a Thursday arraignment before Judge Joe Z. Satterfield.

This marks the third meth lab of its type discovered in as many weeks in the county.

The labs are highly volatile and dangerous, according to Hefner, who warns residents to avoid contact with any such materials if sighted and to immediately contact authorities.

Taking advantage of a little old lady. Nice. Hope this human garbage gives up a lot of information on her partners in crime.

I moved up north a few months ago and although I still hear of meth related issues here, it has occurred to me that Stoddard Co. and southeast Missouri must have the market cornered on it. When are these nutjobs gonna wake up and realize what this stuff does to not only themselves but to their families and to the people they sell it to.

Will they ever realize they aren't INVINCIBLE?

Carl keep up the good work. Stoddard County should be proud of the work you and your offficers do.

I agree completely Birdman, how trashy it truly is to USE an elderly person to accomplish this wicked task. It is so devastating to everyone that is involved, those who use have such serious and often FATAL complications, and their families who bear the grief, and have to try to carry on their lives knowing what the guilty party has done. I pray they find a way to eradicate this JUNK completely.
