Geneva Hathaway

Geneva Hathaway, daughter of the late Arthur Davis and Althea Snider Davis, was born on May 9, 1920, in Catron and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare on June 13, 2009 at the age of 89.

Mrs. Hathaway was a farmer's wife, a homemaker, and a member of Word of Faith Christian Center in Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Hathaway on Dec. 21, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded his wife in death on Jan. 22, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Jone Anthony and husband Jim of Dexter, Susan Hartle and husband Dale of Bernie; five grandchildren, Jimmie Anthony Jr. and wife Deb, Scott Anthony, Stacey Anthony Ward and husband Brian, Kelly Hartle and Davis Hartle; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher Anthony, Brandi Anthony, Joshua Anthony, Connor Anthony, Joe Coy, Brandon Helm, Andrew Coy, Danielle Terrell, Westley Carter and Brittney Ward.

Other than by her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble Davis and Cratis Davis; and one sister, Sylvia Brown.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dale Hartle officiating.

Interment followed in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery in rural Dexter.
