John L. Autrey, son of the late William Andrew and Faye E. Autrey, was born in Essex on Aug. 7, 1949, and died at his home in Branson on June 19, 2009, at the age of 59.

Mr. Autrey had lived in Stoddard County , spent 15 years in Washington, and had lived in Branson the past two years. He had worked for the Intergram-Magna Factory before his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, biking, spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren and studying his Bible.

Surviving are one son, Stan Autrey of Milan, Tenn.; four grandchildren; one brother, James E. Autrey of Corpus Christi, Texas. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Don D., Bill D. and Richard Autrey.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, after 1 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the Essex Cemetery.

Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery in Essex with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Full Military Rites were supplied by Missouri Military Honors and American Legion Post 59 of Dexter.
