He was the owner of Williams News Agency in Dexter working for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff and the Standard Democrat in Sikeston, a charter member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439, and a resident of rural Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Batten on Oct. 17, 2005, in Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Shannon M. Owens of Dexter and Shelly N. Gandy of Carl Junction; one son, Gary Williams of Dexter; one step-son, Rusty Pruett of Nashville, Tenn.; by one step-daughter, Patty Shell of Dexter; one brother, John Patrick Williams of Dexter; two sisters, Julia Ann Williamson of Bloomfield and Janet Lee Friedewald of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one half sister, Barbara Sulick.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5- 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009. An Elks memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
