Shellbie Hill, 9, a student at Central Elementary in Dexter, decided to donate her hair to Locks of Love as a way of doing something for her grandmother, Jamie Daniels of Dexter, and her friend, Candy Moore, of Dexter. Daniels was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2007 and is currently in remission. Moore was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment. Hill has had her long blonde hair for several years. She made the decision to cut her hair as part of the Relay for Life celebration that is held annually. In the photo above, Dawn Dowdy, stylist at Hairworks, prepares to cut Hill's hair while Daniels, left, and Moore look on. Daniels and Moore pose with Hill as she displays the 11" of hair that will be contributed to Locks of Love. That program uses the hair to make hair pieces for cancer victims who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

What a wonderful tribute to these girls, for those patients that doesn't have hair.
Noone realizes what a cancer patient has to endure. The chemo is terrible .Makes you sick and weak and kills good cells at the same time you're losing your hair..
Radiation will blister you,but you have to say,its all worth it to get the cancer killed out,
I know from experience. Its all tough!
You are a hero MOGAL. Keep up the fight. What a great story!
Candy was my son's babysitter several years ago and I hate to hear that she is having to endure this. How sweet and unselfish this little girl Shellbie is, God bless all of you.
Cancer is so harsh and the patients suffer so many things. It is wonderful to see the love and generosity that some show. A few years back I also donated to locks of love in tribute to my sister Carol who died much too young of ovarian cancer. God Bless all who face the trials of cancer!!!!
I wanted you to know,I am now cancer free,so the fight and pain was worth it all.
