Verba Foege

Verba Foege, daughter of the late John and Myrtie Cates Link was born on August 17, 1928 in Bloomfield and died on June 27, 2009 ,at her residence in Bloomfield at the age of 80.

Mrs. Foege attended the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia and worked as a cashier, model, waitress and a beautician at Puff Beauty Salon which she owned and was employed at Raython for 18 years. She worked for Helping Hands at the First Southern Baptist Church in Bloomfield and was also a pharmacist assistant. Mrs. Foege also resided in five states including: Colorado, California, Illinois, Tennessee and Missouri.

On Oct. 19, 1967, she was united in marriage to Raymond Foege at Chicago, Ill. Mr. Foege preceded her in death on July 7, 2007.

She is survived by one adopted daughter, Sandra K. Phillips of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mary Maxine Reed and Sarah Christine Kelly both of St. Louis; and by four special friends, Artie Hatchel, Janet Bracken and Mary Williams, all of Bloomfield, and Vickie Hoy of Memphis, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.
