Gladys Geneva Christian Lewis was born on July 1, 1918, at Puxico, the daughter of the late Warner and Erma Harris Christian. She died on July 6, 2009, at St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thell Lewis, her husband of 60 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelby Jean Howard Johnson; grandchildren, Sherri Lynn John Graflage, Terri Dawn Chadwell, Christine Lynn Grant, Kevin Michael Johnson; great-granddaughter, Amanda Marie (Larry Rudar) Lowry; great-great-grandson, Jax Lee Rudar; sisters, Deane Kirby, Virginia (T.C.) Miner of Bloomfield, and Betty McDougal of Sikeston; brothers, Allen (Thelma) Christian of Dexter, Harold Christian of Granite City, Charles (Jean) Christian of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Lewis of Dexter; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and their families.

Preceding her in death were her sister, Maxine Underwood; her sisters-in-law, Laura Belle Christian and Nurcine Graves; brother, Carroll Christian; brothers-in-law, Duane Kirby, Dick McDougal, Norman Underwood, Charlie Lewis and Ralph Graves.

Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Biggs will officiate.
