Schools announce registration dates, free physicals date

Stoddard County school districts have announced dates for their upcoming student registration, with most beginning next week.

In Dexter, registration will take place for Southwest Elementary School from noon until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4. At Central Elementary, students should register on Wednesday, Aug. 5 between noon and 7 p.m.

All new students in any district should register with the child's birth certificate, social security number, an up-to-date immunization record and proof of residence. At Dexter School's registration, school photos will be taken and picture packages will be offered to parents but not required to be purchased.

Students attending T.S. Hill Middle School and Dexter High School should plan to register on Monday, Aug. 3 between noon and 7 p.m.

Dexter's first day of classes will be on Thursday, Aug. 13. Dismissal on that day will be at 11:30 a.m.

At Bernie Schools, students new to the district in grades K-12 may enroll on Wednesday, July 29. Enrollment will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. in the Media Center at Bernie High School. Parents should bring immunization records, a birth certificate, social security card and proof of residence.

Students returning to Bernie Schools may enroll on Tuesday, Aug. 5. This date is a change from a previously announced date of Aug. 4. Students in seventh and eighth grades should enroll between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Students in grades 9-12 should enroll between 1-3 p.m. Again, enrollment will take place in the high school's Media Center.

An orientation for Bernie students entering seventh grade for the 2009-10 school year will be held on Aug. 11 in the high school gym beginning at 7 p.m.

For Bloomfield students, district-wide registration for new and current students is scheduled to take place on Friday, Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. School photos will be taken that day. Bloomfield's first day of student attendance will be on Thursday, Aug. 13, which will be a full day of classes.

Richland students will be enrolling students on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The first day of school for Richland students will be on Thursday, Aug. 13 for a full day of classes.

Classes in the Bell City School District will resume on Thursday, Aug. 13 for a full day of classes. New students to district will have an opportunity to register beginning Thursday, July 30 and should register before the start of school on Aug. 13.

Advance students will return to school on Thursday, Aug. 20 for a full day of school. No further information regarding registration at Advance was available from the district's administration office.

Puxico classes will begin with a full day of classes on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Prior to that date, on Aug. 12, high school seniors will be registering between the hours of 8:30-11:30 a.m. Juniors are asked to register from 1-3 p.m. Puxico sophomores are asked to register on Thursday, Aug. 13 between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and incoming freshmen on the same date from 1-3 p.m.

School supply lists for all area districts have been supplied to local stores carrying school items.

Free physicals will be available for all Stoddard County students on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 4-6 p.m. at T.S. Hill Middle School.

I wonder why Advance wasn't more forthcoming with information???? Mmmm....
