Charley "Junior" Grubbs
Charley "Junior" Grubbs, son of the late Charley Grubbs and Lillian Merle Grubbs Kinder was born on Sept. 12, 1935 in Kennett and died at his residence in Dexter on Aug. 10, 2009 at the age of 73.

Mr. Grubbs was a veteran of the United States Air Force, served in the Missouri National Guard Unit in Bernie, and retired from General Motors. He was a member of the Second General Baptist Church and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Sturgeon on Jan. 19, 1957 in Essex. Mrs. Grubbs survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include three daughters, Vicki Grubbs of The Villages, Fla.; Melody Hedge of Imperial; and Cheryl Teager of Paragould, Ark.; by two brothers, Bob Grubbs of Tulsa, Okla., and Jerry Grubbs of Dexter; five sisters: Mildred Ellis, Sue Duckworth, Mary Ann Reel, and Linda Kestner, all of Dexter; Glenda Story of Paducah, Ky.; also by four grandchildren, Corey Hedge, Erin Hedge, Kyle Teager, and Trent Teager.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister, Dottie Kay Grubbs.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
