Michael was a member of the Port City Community Church, the owner of Michael A. Cooksey, Ltd. Custom Masonry, a member of the North Carolina Masonry Association, a resident of Wilmington, N.C., and a former resident of Dexter. He loved sports and will be missed by the golfing DYEnasty group.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cooksey of the home in Wilmington, N.C.; his children, Justin Cooksey of Cary, N.C., Brooke Craig, Tyler Craig and Jordan Craig all of Wilmington, N.C.; his mother, Elnora Adams of Bartlett, Tenn.; his father, Floyd Cooksey of Granbury, Texas; four siblings, Gala Bonner of Cordova, Tenn., Timothy Cooksey of Beaufort, Kimberley Wiggins and Julie Maness, both of Bartlett, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Paul Cook.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009. A memorial service will then be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.
Memorials in Mike's memory may be made to the Dexter Public Schools, Attention: Laura Putnam, 1031 Brown Pilot Lane, Dexter, Mo. 63841. Envelopes are available at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home. Donations will be used to purchase a piece of weight lifting equipment for the physical education department.
