David Lee Dowdy, son of Ruby Moore Dowdy of Dexter and the late Asa Dowdy was born on July 6, 1948 at Pyletown and died on Aug. 12, 2009 on his farm at Pyletown at the age of 61.

David was a farmer, the former President of the Stoddard County Fair Board and was currently serving as the Board's Vice-President, a Board member of the John Bryant Scholarship, was serving on the University Of Missouri Extension Council, was a past 4H Leader and a resident of Pyletown.

He was united in marriage to Pamela J. Worth on June 1, 1968 at Dexter. Mrs. Dowdy survives of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Matthew R. Dowdy and wife Michelle of Dexter; by one daughter, Amy Beth Dowdy of Dexter; by his mother, Ruby Dowdy of Dexter; by two grandchildren, Maci Dowdy and Atom Dowdy; by two brothers, Asa Dowdy Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska and John Dowdy of Dexter; by one sister, Judi Hausner of Webb, Miss.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Joe Dowdy.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter after 4 p.m.., Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery.
