Keith Hampton, son of the late Louie and Ethel Pirtle Hampton, was born on March 26, 1926 in Essex and died on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his residence in rural Dexter at the age of 83.

Mr. Hampton was a retired farmer, a vintage car enthusiast and a resident of Dexter.

On Oct. 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Peggy May Frailey. Mrs. Hampton preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Keith Wright of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Sharon McCall of Roswell, Ga.; two brothers, Allen Hampton of Parma and Larry Hampton of Bernie; two sisters, Mary Ellis of Parma and Doris Harmon of Pontiac, Mich.; two granddaughters, Angela Cliff of Bloomfield and Allison Bowley of Oakland, Tenn.; two great-granddaughters, Emmelia Cliff and Lorelei Bowley.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by Lavern Hampton who raised him after his mother passed away at an early age; and by one sister, Nila Jean Botsch.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, from 12-2 p.m.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Harold Gass officiating.
