Glenda Southerland

Glenda Southerland, daughter of the late Alton Cox and Mary Williams Cox, was born on April 28, 1941, at Sikeston and died in the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House at Mountain Home, Ark., on Sept. 9, 2009, at the age of 78.

Mrs. Southerland was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Dexter, a former equipment operator for Arvin Automotive and a resident of Bloomfield.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Southerland, Jr. of Viola, Ark., and Alton Southerland of Gepp, Ark.; one daughter, Cheryl Braswell; three brothers, Aubrey Cox of Cuba, Earl Cox of Canton, Texas, and Joe Yant of Morehouse; three sisters, Verna Davis of Sikeston, Sue Little of Quinlan, Texas, and Betty Yant five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Yant, Bud Yant and Bill Yant; and three sisters, Connie Yant, Shirley Yant, Elna Norris and Ruth Alsup.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in the

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
