Verna Mae Romine

Verna Mae Romine, daughter of the late William Riley Cox and Sarah Betty Perryman Cox, was born on Jan. 16, 1935 in Corning, Ark. and died on Sept. 10, 2009 in The Village at Richardson in Richardson, Texas at the age of 74.

Mrs. Romine was a homemaker, formally of Stoddard County and resided in Mesquite, Texas at the time of her death.

On Feb. 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Orville Lee Romine in St. Louis. Mr. Romine survives of the home in Mesquite, Texas.

Besides her husband, other survivors include three daughters, Vicki Lynn Duncan of Palm Springs, Fla., Leah Ann Lombardi of Wylie, Texas, and Deidre Peazy of Mesquite, Texas; by one brother, Howard Cox of Little Rock, Ark.; also by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Cox; and by one sister, Geraldine Cox.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Monday Sept. 14, 2009. Funeral service will then be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie.
