Mr. Smith was a self-employed truck driver, veteran of the United States Army, and a resident of Dexter.
On May 22, 1954, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Teeter in St. Louis. Mrs. Smith survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, other survivors include two daughters, Lisa Corlew and husband Charles of Dudley and Angie Smith of Dexter; two grandsons, Zach Roach and Jake Roach, both of Dexter; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Hartline-Roach of Dexter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene "Bud" Smith and J.W. Smith; and two sisters, Katherleen Pope and Jerleen Pope.
Visitation will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
