Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner is asking citizens to be aware of two men who worked in the county over the past weekend attempting to steal money from convenience stores along the path of Highway 60 in the Dexter and Dudley areas. The two found success in one of the two stores Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, two black male subjects entered a convenience store just north of Dexter. While one of the subjects diverted the attention of the cashier on duty at the time, the other entered an office area and carried off about $300 in cash.

A short time later, two men matching the description of the two in Dexter, entered a convenience store in Dudley and the same tactic was attempted, but unsuccessfully.

Hefner says the two subjects were seen in an early to mid 2000 model black Cadillac passenger car. While the vehicle does not display front plates, a witness identified the first three numbers of the rear license plate as 141. It is believed to be a Tennessee plate and could also contain the letters HYS. The vehicle's windows, it was reported, are not tinted.

Hefner says no weapons were used in either incident. He urges that all area store employees use caution if approached by anyone displaying suspicious behavior. Photos of the two men in question were captured on a store surveillance camera. Anyone recognizing either individual is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.

In that first pic it looks like he has a "studded" out version of Fred Sanford (of Sanford and Son) on his shirt!! Looks like he means business!
