Ava Geneva Hume, daughter of the late Chester and Lillie Link Asbell, was born in Clines Island on May 17, 1921, and died at the Golden Living Center in Dexter on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the age of 88.
Mrs. Hume had lived in Dexter area all her life. She was a charter member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. She had been a self-employed day care worker and kept children for 30 years.
On Oct. 3, 1942, she was married to Charles William Hume in Dexter. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2008.
Surviving are one granddaughter, Lori Buck of Dexter; one great-grandson, Kelton Buck of Dexter; one foster son and family, Chris and Michelle Cannon and Christopher Cannon, all of Dexter; one sister, Annette Robertson of Lake of the Ozarks; four nieces; and three nephews. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Duane Hume on Oct. 25, 1972; one sister, Marcia Wilson; and one niece.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
