Marcia Joan Schilin, age 65, of St. Augustine, Fla., died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in Bernie and was a longtime resident of Atlanta, Ga., prior to moving to Florida in 2000. Joan was a beauty queen in her youth, maturing into the finest of mothers for two beautiful children. She was a tireless and highly respected business professional having worked for many years in commercial insurance and publishing. There are no words to adequately describe the loss felt in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to really know Joan. We will all share the memory of her beautiful smile and warm soul, knowing that Joan has joined our many loved ones already in the Lord's Kingdom of Heaven.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Schilin of 3406 Haley Point Rd., St. Augustine, Fla.; sisters, Janis Morris of Leavenworth, Kan., Joyce Kirmss of Dallas, Texas, Marilyn Smit of Wildwood; and aunt, Evangeline Lance of Centerville, Ohio. Joan is preceded in death by her children, Marcia and Tommy and parents, Carl and Elsie Cooper.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the Village Church, corner of S.R. 16 and Pacetti Road. Memorial service and interment will also be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Ga. 30076. Donations in Joan's memory can be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy., #250, Dallas, Texas 75244.

St. Johns Family Funeral Home of St. Augustine, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
