Irene Kruse, daughter of the late William Burley Joyner and Florence Howle Joyner, was born on Dec. 18, 1911 in Arlington, Ky. and died at the Cypress Point Health Care in Dexter on Oct. 7, 2009 at the age of 97.

Mrs. Kruse was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, a member of the Dexter Eastern Star, and a resident of Dexter.

On May 5, 1928 she was united in marriage to Eugene Estes. Mr. Estes preceded her in death on June 13, 1976. She was then united in marriage to Albert Kruse on Nov. 30, 1980. Mr. Kruse preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2009.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Faith Vowels of Dexter, Shirley Lundy and Jo Ann Chiste, both of Summerfield, Fla.; one step-son, Charles Kruse of Dexter; and one step-daughter, Linda Lee Brazel of San Antonio, Texas; by six grandchildren, Sherry Estes, Marsha Denmark, Michael Vowels, Steven Smith, Leigh Ann Stansfield, and Jo David Cummins; also by six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jack Estes; one brother, Virgil Joyner; by one sister Mary Francis Elliot; and by one grandson, Brad Estes.

An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with public visitation immediately following the Eastern Star service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
