Gary Douglas James

Gary James, son of the late Paul James and Bernice Reeves James, was born on July 9, 1929, at Malden and died on Oct. 25, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 80.

Mr. James was a food broker, a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Beverly Watson on Jan. 24, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. Mrs. James survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, Mr. James is survived by two sons, Scott Wayne James of St. Louis and Michael James of Dexter; two sisters, Linda Green of Arab, Ala., and Sonya Ahmann of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Andrew James, Matthew James, Lindsey James, and Rachael James.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul James Jr., Frank James, and Morris (Horsey) James.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 from 1-2 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Steve Easterwood officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
