I guess my favorite memory is from when we lived in Dexter many years ago. We walked to the Halloween program at Central Elementary, and when we got home, my younger brother pulled a KITTEN out of his shirt, and said, "Mom, look what followed me home! Can we keep her?" Mom didn't have the heart to say no, so "Spooky" became a part of our family, and we all loved her SO much!

Okay, if none of you sissies will post an answer, I'll just have to do a "bobby wayne" and talk to myself.

Every teenager knows that the best part of Halloween (even better than the candy) is the hayrides with a special person! Ahhhhh, those were the days!

When I was a kid Halloween was a very magical and special and fun day. The only day better was Christmas! It seems like most of the magic has been taken out of Halloween for most kids today ... who are provided with so much materially through the year. Kids used to have to live so much in their imagination ... Davey Crockett was a mythical hero and Disneyland was an exotic faraway place that you could only imagine visiting. Halloween was like living a dream.

I remember when I was about 4 I think having Halloween with my parents. My dad was a sheet metal worker so he made the coolest Tin Man costume in history for himself, my mom dressed up as Dorothy and I was the lion. It's a little cheesy, but it was cool to do something with my parents like that.

I love it when parents dress up with their kids! My son and daughter-in-law do that - and they love to have a costume party. All year long, their friends think up costumes for that one special day. One year my daughter and her boyfriend went as Johnny & June Carter Cash & had so much fun! Halloween is such a creative time. You're right, FJ - It's magic!

I have LOTS of wonderful Hallowe'en memories. The first was back in the early 60's..we had just gotten our first TV and they were showing scary movies. My brother and I had been all over town trick or treating (yes, we could roam the whole town back then with no worries about anything except keeping the older kids from stealing our candy). The clouds had been building up and it started raining after we got home and settled in watching a movie...The Day The Earth Stood Still..which is my all time favorite and probably because of that night...remember when everything shut down and the message was being delivered? Well, there was a huge streak of lightning and a boom of thunder..and OUR lights went out!!! I think I was in first grade or so at the time and should have been scared witless...nope..I got up and ran outside looking for the space ship, cause I wanted to meet Michael Renne's character!!

Then after I was in Texas and dating my future ex, we started doing the adult costume parties down here...every year our group of friends would take turns hosting the party at their house and we would go all out...good times..
