Two other donations pushed the amount up to the $350 needed for the library's matching funds to obtain a grant for $1400 worth of new children's books. |
The weekend proved profitable for the Advance Community Library, whose book and yard sale netted the necessary matching funds to order $1400 worth of new children's books, provided by a $1400 Libri Foundation grant.
The library qualified for the grant, based on Advance's rural nature. Among other qualifications, the library board had to agree to provide $350 worth of matching funds. These funds had to be raised from the community in the form of donations or sales.
"We are so pleased with the community's response to our one-day sale," said library board president Holly French.
The next library board meeting will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, since the Advance School Board is meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.
