Helen Jones

Helen Jones, daughter of the late Jess Gaines and Hazel Dickerson Gaines, was born on May 22, 1925 at Dexter and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Nov. 3, 2009 at the age of 84.

Mrs. Jones had been a case worker for the Missouri Department Of Family Services for 28 years, a former employee of International Shoe Company in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Woodrow E. Jones on Jan. 12, 1944, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Jones preceded her in death on April 10, 2009.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Paula Jones of Dexter; one grandson, Thad Jones of Plano, Texas; three brothers, Gene Gaines, Donald Gaines and Bobby Gaines.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nadine Richards, Ruth Taylor and Marcella Gaines.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 10:30 a.m. On Nov. 9, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Herman Morse officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
