Emma Thornton

Emma Thornton, daughter of the late William Williamson and Anna Charles Williamson, was born on March 7, 1922 at Bernie and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Nov. 4, 2009, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Thornton was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield where she had worked as a seamstress and a shipping clerk and was a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Arley Thornton on Oct. 19, 1946, at Pontiac, Mich. Mr. Thornton preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1993.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Tony Pugh of Dexter: by two granddaughters, Ashlie Shipman and Shelly Leonard; one step-grandson, David Pugh; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, Casey, Alex and Reana.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5- 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ryan Helton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery
