The February 2009 ice storm left the area's trees devastated, perhaps none as critically as those in the city's East Park. Just over eight months after what many believed to be the worst ice storm in the history of Southeast Missouri, the scene at the park is once again full of color with a blanket of leaves on the ground in preparation for what the area hopes to be a much less severe winter season.
Autumn in Dexter..beautiful. Try taking a drive up around Sisler's Hill and when you come back down on the East side, if I remember correctly, you can see a nice view of Dexter's trees painted in orange, yellow and red. People may leave Dexter for any number of years, but most try to make their way home eventually. I know I will be back one of these days. Enjoy the weather up there my friends.
One thing I love about this area is the beautiful fall colors. The parks here in Dexter are pretty in the fall. Those gravel roads up through the Crolwey Ridge and Holly Ridge areas are so scenic during autumn. And it's nice to walk the trails and get a real close look at the colors.
Very nice, Noreen! The autumn colors are all the more appreciated because of the traumatic spring we had!
Wow! I spelled Crowley wrong!
Exactly right, GL!
I so miss the four seasons...and the color!!! Something besides red clay and dead grass...we have only a couple weeks of spring and fall down here. I love spring and fall...just one more reason on the list of why I want to come home!!!
