Mr. Palmer had lived in Aquilla most of his life. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church in Aquilla and was a member of the Rhythm Rustlers musical group.
On Aug. 18, 1940, he was married to Mildred Walker in Bloomfield.
Surviving are his wife Mildred Palmer of Aquilla; one son, Jim Palmer of Dexter; two daughters, Elsie Fry of Bloomfield and Kathy Hyslop of Advance; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Gaines; two grandchildren; four sisters; and six brothers.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.mn. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Raymond Hanna officiating.
Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
