Recipients of the 2009 "Auxiliary of the Year" awards include Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary, Missouri Southern Healthcare Auxiliary, Friends of SSM St. Joseph Auxiliary and Heartland Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. These auxiliaries were recognized for outstanding service between June 1, 2008, and May 31, 2009. The awards were presented Thursday, Nov. 5, at a luncheon during the Missouri Hospital Association's 87th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Osage Beach, Mo.

Four members of the Auxiliary--President Carl Neuber, Lillian Singleton, Gift Shop Manager Melba Baker, and Christine Neuber--attended the event.
The Missouri Southern Healthcare Auxiliary in Dexter was recognized for its volunteer activities as an auxiliary with 61-150 members. Between June 2008 and May 2009, the hospital's 75 auxilians contributed 9,293 hours of volunteer service.
The auxilians participate in various in-service activities, including administrative and patient-centered functions. Throughout the past year, the auxiliary has donated numerous items for the hospital, including a bariatric patient bed and air mattress, a bariatric gurney for the surgical suite, a steam table for the dietary department, new lighting for the front of the hospital and a Wii console.
The auxilians fund seven renewable $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors planning to enter medical professions.
Annual Auxiliary events include fundraising projects include an Annual Salad Luncheon and Book Fair, an Annual Ham and Bean Dinner, two $5 Jewelry Sales, Community Spring Fest, Community Fall Fest, various raffles related to holidays, Gift Shop sales and Sweet Treats Sales. The Auxiliary is also involved with the Dr. Ron Hill Golf Tournament fundraising project.
