In the past two years the board has purchased several generators, however, with the addition of the new City Hall that leaves one building not covered.
The former City Hall, now the Bloomfield Police Department, was not fitted with a generator hook-up nor was a generator purchased.
At the request of Water/Street Superintendent Dennis Pleasant, the board voted to spend up to $6,000 for the purchase of a 60Kw generator and trailer from the state surplus office in Jefferson City.
Also approved was the disconnect switch that will have to be installed at the building to allow the generator to be used.
The switch was initially supposed to have been done before the move, but the electrician didn't know the building was set up for three-phase power and in order to hook it up the electric company also had to be involved.
Alderman Tom Bischof voted against purchasing another generator stating that there was no funding in the budget to cover the expense.
In other business:
* The board heard a request from Hazel Williams from the Bloomfield Area Nutrition Center (BANC) regarding the use of the basement kitchen in City Hall to host twice per month meals so that the organization can begin serving the community. The board suggested another location for them to check with first, but remained open to the possibility. There will be more on this story in the near future.
* The board discussed the possibility of making Penny Shepard an Auxiliary fireman.
* Alderman Bischof voiced concerns about doors being left open on the fire department with the heat running. The matter was referred to Fire Chief Kenny Johnson.
* The Park Board announced plans to spend up to $3,500 to replace the damaged rof on the cabin in the park.
The next regular meeting of the Bloomfield Board of Aldermen is Monday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
