Eight sentenced to prison on Law Day

Wednesday, November 25, 2009
The most recent Stoddard County Law Day resulted in several prison sentences.

According to a release from Stoddard County Prosecutor Briney Welborn, eight guilty pleas were accepted, 12 sentences entered and a total of eight prison sentences.

Among them are:

* Mark Aiken, charged with violating his probation, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to four years in prison. He was also charged with the Cass C felony of assault in the second degree and trial was set in that case for Feb. 23, 2010.

* Dana Allen-Nattier, charged with the Class B felony of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, appeared for arraignment and pled guilty. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

* Donald Alvey, charged with the Class C felony of tampering in the first degree and the Class C felony of burglary in the second degree, appeared for arraignment and pled guilty. He was sentenced to seven years on each charge.

* Ricky Barnett was charged with the Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance and the Class D felony of criminal non-support. He was sentenced to three years in prison on each of the two charges.

* William Chad Clayton, charged with the Class B felony of attempted manufacture of methamphetamine, appeared for sentencing. He was sentenced to nine years in prison on the matter with four years for violating his probation.

* A trial date was set in the case against Jeremiah Hood, a Zalma man charged with rape. His trial will begin March 16, 2010.

* Joseph Samples, charged with probation violation, was sentenced to serve seven years in prison.

* Two other people charged in connection with an October bust on Poplar St. in Dexter were also in court. The cases against both Jimmie Robinson and David Williams were continued over to Dec. 2 to give time for one of the accused to have their case referred to a different public defender's office due to a potential conflict in representation.

The third person arrested in that case, Jennifer Nicole England, 32 of Dexter, has had the charges against her dropped.

When are these people going to see that "Meth" isn't the way to go? They need a whole lot of GOD in them. I knew some of these people from my meth days many moons ago and here they are still messing with it and still getting in trouble over it. Will they ever learn? I pray for them.
