Lester Karnes, 94, of Dexter, died on Nov. 27, 2009, in Searcy, Ark. He was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Pope County, Ark., to the late William and Margaret Williams Karnes. He was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. On April 16, 1938, in Lamar, Ark. he married Fannie Turner who preceded him in death on July 1, 1995.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Geraldine Karnes of Sikeston, Joe and Becky Karnes of Sikeston and Morris and Beverly Karnes of Bernie; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gary Shelton of Searcy, Ark.; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by eight brothers; nine sisters; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1st at 10:30 a.m. in the Nunnelee Chapel. Pastor Pat Hogan of the Shady Acres Church of Christ and Pastor Dale Grissom of the Dexter Church of Christ will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Forrest Hills Cemetery in Morley. Pallbearers will be Craig Karnes, David Hamlin, David Lambert, Jason Karnes, Jon Shelton, Kyle Brown and Sam Bruschi.
