Statesman continues Operation Santa 2009

Nine families on the Operation Santa list for 2009 have been graciously adopted by our readers. Additional families in need of help this holiday season are listed below, along with those that have not yet received help.

To adopt a family for Christmas, or to help monetarily with any needs for these families, contact The Daily Statesman at 133 S. Walnut or by calling 573-624-4545.

Family No. 7

A Bloomfield family has two working parents, but still has needs for the holiday season. Two boys, ages four and seven, are in need of pants, coats, and toys. Groceries would also be appreciated in this home over the holidays and the adults are in need of pants as well.

Family No. 8

A young couple is expecting their first child this month. The father-to-be works full-time, but Christmas items are still a need. Baby items would be appreciated and a gift certificate for mom to purchase clothes after delivery would also be much appreciated.

Family No. 12

This two-parent household has three children at home. Two boys are 11 and 12 and a daughter is one year old. Father is disabled and mother works part time at a local nursing facility. Parents request clothing items, video games, board games or card games for the boys. Story books and dolls are requests for the one-year-old daughter. Groceries are also a need for this household, as well as cleaning supplies.

Family No. 13

This household has two working parents, but still has needs for the holidays. Three children are in the household, including an eight-year-old son and a 15-year-old son, and a 12-year-old daughter. Items requested include a radio, pants and shoes for the 15-year-old, clothes and CDs for the 12-year-old and toys for the eight-year-old.

Family No. 14

This household is in need of toys and clothes for a one-month-old boy. Parent requests 3-6 month size clothing and diapers.

Family No. 15

This single mother has one preschool boy who is in need of toys in the 18 month to 24 month age range. He is also in need of clothing, size 4T. Mother asks for nothing for herself, but groceries would surely be a welcome gift for this family during the holidays.

Family No. 16

This two-parent family is in need of assistance for their four children. Father is employed full-time, but mother suffers from MS and is unable to work or drive at this time. A nine-year-old son needs shirts, socks and shoes. An eight-year-old son is in need of pants, shirts, socks and underwear. A five-year-old daughter needs a coat and clothing including boots and underwear. The youngest child is just six months old and is in need of winter clothing items and diapers. Household items requested include detergent and toiletries and mother says any toys are welcome. This family may be require two or more donors.

Family No. 17

A boy, 11, and a girl, 9, live in this household where mother was recently laid off from a factory in Poplar Bluff. Children are in need of clothing items including shoes and mother says both children are in need of beds.
