Mable Neal, daughter of the late Johnie Wilson and Elizabeth Gertrude Wyman Payne, was born in Essex on Aug. 30, 1925, and died at the Westwood Hills Healthcare Facility in Poplar Bluff on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the age of 84.

She had lived in the Dexter area most of her life. She was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church, had worked as a seamstress for over 32 years at Elders Manufacturing, and worked as a cook at Central Elementary School in Dexter for 10 years.

On Oct. 18, 1941, she was married to Jesse Lee Neal near Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann Sivley and Vicki Davison, both of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald R. Payne of Essex; one sister, Joyce "Polly" Tomaszewski of St. Louis. Other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Lee Neal and Jimmy Dale Neal; one brother, Billy R. Payne; and one sister, Mary Morris.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Rick White of Poplar Bluff officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
