Leonard Whalen, son of the late William Porter Whalen and Eunice Bradford Whalen, was born on April 7, 1937 at Hayti and died in the Southeast Hospital at Cape Girardeau on Jan. 12, 2010 at the age of 72.

Mr. Whalen attended the Bloomfield First Assembly Of God Church, was a former Technician for the Fairbanks Scale Company, a veteran of the United States Navy and a resident of Bloomfield.

He was united in marriage to Charlotte Davis on Aug. 4, 1970 at Malden. Mrs. Whalen survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Christopher Whalen of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Bran Whalen, Dakoda Whalen and Kalie Whalen; and one sister, Frances Burleson of Warner Robins, Ga.

Visitation will be hedl at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dwight Hensley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
