Don Walker, son of the late Jessie Raymond Walker and Mayme Reynolds Walker was born on March 5, 1936 at Cotton Hill and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Jan. 17, 2010 at the age of 73.

Mr. Walker attended the Corinth General Baptist Church near Puxico, was a former mechanical engineer with Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory at Batavia, Ill. and was a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Williams on July 31, 1954 at St. Charles, Ill. Mrs. Walker survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Karla Short, Desiree Mangers and Dee Chapman, all of Dexter, and Cindy Combs of Omaha, Neb.: by three brothers, Dennis Walker of St. Charles, Ill., Tom Walker of Summerfield, Fla. and Leroy "SUG" Walker of Dexter; by two sisters, Felma Condict of Floral City, Fla., and Peggy McGowen of Leesburg, Fla.: by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobbie Walker.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
