Mary Lee Poe, daughter of the late John Sampson Redding and Clara Elder Redding was born on July 29, 1928 at Hazen, Ark. and died in her residence at Dexter on Feb. 12, 2010 at the age of 81.

Mrs. Poe was a member of the Broadwater Church Of The Brethren at Frisco, a former tractor driver for Snider-Wethington Farms, the former trash collector for the City Of Essex, a former house-keeper at Dexter Memorial Hospital and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Austin T. Poe on Dec. 12, 1942 at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Poe preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1966.

She is survived by three sons, Jim S. Poe of Malden, Roy Lee Poe of Bloomfield and Edgar Allan Poe of Dexter; by two daughters, Pansy Poe of Dexter and Mary Thornburgh of Bloomfield; by one sister, Bessie Ryan of Burton, Mich.; by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Earline Trent; by two brothers, Dummie Redding and Joseph Redding; by three sisters, Eva Cavness, Isabelle Polsgrove and Pearl Redding.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb.16, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Rock Point Cemetery near Advance.
