Samuel Dennis Curtis, son of the late Vernon Curtis and Juanita Smith Curtis, was born on Feb. 27, 1948, in Poplar Bluff and died at his residence in Hillsboro, Ill., on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at the age of 61.

Mr. Curtis was a former electrical engineer for the Coal Mine and a resident of Hillsboro, Ill.

On Jan. 30, 1971 he was united in marriage to Linda Wethington at Grayridge. Mrs. Curtis survives of the home in Hillsboro, Ill.

Besides his wife, other survivors include four daughters, Laura Leigh Curtis of Carbondale, Ill., Amanda Bigler and husband Daniel of St. Louis, Christina Curtis of St. Louis, and Patricia Curtis and fiancÚ, William Walsh of Chicago, Ill.; one grandchild, Christian Bigler; two sisters, Mary Ann Bennett and husband Howard of St. Louis and Patsie Warren and husband Mack of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Daniel Curtis of Kissimmee, Fla., and John Edward Curtis of Enola, Ark.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Bass-Patton-Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ill.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1- 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the North Antioch Cemetery in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery.
