Clarence "Fat" Taylor

Clarence "Fat" Taylor, son of the late Thomas A. Taylor and Virginia Bell Crutcher Taylor, was born on Oct. 21, 1912 at Essex and died at his residence at Essex on March 26, 2010 at the age of 97.

Mr. Taylor was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Essex, a farmer, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and a resident of Essex.

He was united in marriage to Golda Marie Wiseman on March 12, 1948 at Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Taylor preceded him in death on July 4, 1994.

Survivors include one son, Rex Allen Taylor of Essex; one daughter, Fern Marie Taylor of Essex; two grandsons, Shannon Taylor and Travis Williamson; one nephew, Kirby Taylor of Dexter; and one niece, Livy Zunkel of the state of Washington.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Taylor, Jerome Taylor and Robert Taylor: and by two sisters, Ruth Baker and Fern Taylor.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the Essex Cemetery with Rev. Gary Gilbert officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
