Flossie Ellen Stanley, daughter of the late Simon Tate and Mary Dennington Tate Wofford, was born on August 15, 1921, at Risco and died on April 7, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau the age of 88.

Mrs. Stanley had worked at the Garment Factory in Malden, at Brown Shoe Company of Bernie, and Hamra's Department Store in Malden, was of Baptist Faith and a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Leslie Floyd Stanley in 1943. Mr. Stanley preceded her in death on March 3, 1971.

Survivors include three daughters, Ilene Powell of Flint, Mich., Shirley Chandler of Union City, Tenn., and Karen Jo Murphy of Bernie; one brother, Clarence Tate, of the state of Florida; one sister Ilene Morgan of Flint, Mich.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband; one great-grandson, Ryan Chandler; and by several brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel with Rev. Bill Garrett officiating.

Interment will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
